From Vision To Victory
Mental Training Clinic
In my From Vision to Victory: Mental Training Clinic, Courtney Bramlett, a former catcher at Kennesaw State University, and I shared some of the mental tools that helped us succeed as athletes. We both know the mental side of the game is just as critical as physical training, so we focused on three big ideas we believe every athlete can benefit from.
We kicked things off by talking about visualization. Courtney and I both know from experience that when you can see yourself succeeding, you’re halfway there. Visualizing your goals, your plays, or even just a successful game can make a huge difference in real performance.
Then, we dug into staying positive through the tough stuff. Life throws a lot of challenges at you—bad games, off days, or just tough competition. Staying positive isn’t always easy, but it’s essential for getting through those moments without letting them shake you. Courtney shared some personal stories, and I chimed in with my own experiences on how we both pushed through when things weren’t going our way.
Finally, we talked about handling mental hurdles like injuries or the frustration of not starting. This can be some of the hardest stuff to deal with because it’s out of your control, but we shared strategies to tackle those hurdles head-on. We both believe these challenges are opportunities to build resilience and come back stronger.
Our goal with this clinic was to give athletes practical, relatable tools for staying mentally strong, whether they’re in the middle of a big game or just trying to keep going through the tough parts of training. A solid mental game can make all the difference, and we hope everyone left with new ways to power up their mindset.

Does your daughter struggle with...
- Keeping her confidence steady when things don’t go perfectly, like after a missed play or tough game?
- Finding the consistency she needs to perform well, not just in practice but every time she steps on the field?
- Staying calm under pressure when the stakes are high, whether it’s a close game, a tough competitor, or an important tournament?
- Playing up to her full potential in games, especially when she shines in practice but finds it hard to carry that same energy onto the field?
- Handling the frustration of comparison or criticism, and struggling to bounce back with confidence and focus?
- Staying positive and motivated, even on those tough days when nothing seems to go right?
It's easy to assume something is off mechanically, but chances are, she needs to spend more time developing mental resilience.Â
