How Often Should a Beginner Pitcher Practice?
Dec 19, 2025
One of the biggest mistakes parents make is thinking more throwing equals faster results.
It doesn’t.
For beginners, the goal is consistency without burnout. Pitchers should aim to get 1% better every day, but that doesn’t mean throwing a ball 7 days a week.
Improvement can look like:
-
Spin work
-
Mirror drills
-
Video analysis
-
Mental training
-
Watching and learning
Once a pitcher is ready for full-speed work, a healthy structure looks like:
-
2–4 days/week throwing
-
4–6 days/week mirror or movement work (less than 5 minutes)
You need to see your body, to feel your body, to believe in your body.
That belief is built slowly — and safely.
